在台灣，大多數房屋及冷氣都沒有暖氣系統。這是因為台灣的冬季相對短暫，台北市溫度不曾降至冰點以下。然而，在十二月至三月之間，特別是在北部地區，天氣可能會變得寒冷。如果房客在這段時間需要暖氣，多是使用具有供暖功能的空調裝置，或購買移動式的暖氣器。依中央氣象署的資料，由1991年到2020年，台北市的平均冬季最低溫度是16.6度，對許多外國房客來說，台北市的偶爾低溫，在他們的國家還不需要穿外套開暖氣。
